- The humanitarian impact continues to rise in Myanmar and Thailand following the 7.7 earthquake that struck near Mandalay City on 28 March.
- In Myanmar, according to the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS), as of 18 April, nearly 3 900 people have died, most of them in the Mandalay Region (2 483 fatalities), followed by Naypyidaw Union Territory (657), Sagaing Region (615), Bago Region (81), and Shan State (33). Additionally, 441 people remain missing and 5,742 have been injured.
- In Thailand, the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) – AHA Centre reports 54 fatalities and 38 injured people.
- On 29–30 March and 4 April, the Joint Environmental Unit from UNEP/OCHA, UN OCHA Myanmar and WHO, requested assistance through the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM). Six Member States have offered support in the areas of WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), food, shelter, and medical supplies.
- Since 2 April, a total of eight Humanitarian Air Bridge (HAB) cargo flights have successfully transported 462 tonnes of stock to Yangon, carrying mainly health, shelter, and WASH items, including 78 tonnes of ReliefEU stocks. DG ECHO continues to receive cargo transport requests from humanitarian partners, which are currently being organised.
- On 28 March, the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) On-Demand Rapid Mapping was activated (EMSR798) to provide damage assessment mapping. A total of 150 maps have been produced to date.
