KEY FINDINGS
• Food and NFI baskets rose 9% and 6%, respectively, considerably faster than in September;
• Vegetable prices rose 16% and meat/fish rose 8%, driving up food prices in October;
• Nearly half of all prices monitored rose in October, often in the range of 5-10%;
• Prices increased most in Yinmarbin and Sagaing, where meat/fish and vegetables were key drivers;
• The total basket price rose 55% year-on-year, much of which accrued in the late-monsoon season;
• Hygiene NFIs were 145% higher year-on-year, and while stable they remained very expensive in the region.
