KEY FINDINGS

  • September saw the first notable price cuts in months, but they were small compared to increases this year;

  • Vegetables prices fell 9% and foods overall fell 5%, but NFI prices remained largely stable;

  • Price cuts were rarely larger than 10%, but they did reduce prices for fish, plastic tarps, and mosquito nets;

  • Prices continued rising in Maungdaw and Rathedaung as lower food prices failed to register in these markets;

  • Overall prices remained 172% higher year-on-year even as they fell 4% month-on-month;

  • Medicine and hygiene NFI prices fell in some markets, but prices for shelter NFIs remained stubbornly high.
