KEY FINDINGS

  • Food and NFI prices were overall fairly stable, follow-ing price hikes in August and price cuts in September;
  • Essential food prices fell 5% in October on top of a 3%drop in prices in September;
  • Medicine prices fell 6% in October due to lower med-icine prices in more-expensive markets like Ponnagyun;
  • Prices rose the most in Ponnagyun, where meat/fish and vegetables climbed on reports of poor supply;
  • Overall prices rose in some markets and fell in others leading to less regional variation for most products;
  • The total basket price was up 185% year-on-year, and vegetables and hygiene NFIs were up roughly 300%.
