KEY FINDINGS

  • Food and NFI prices rose faster than last month, increasing 11% and 13%, respectively, in August;

  • Meat/fish price rose more than 20% as flooding exacerbated seasonal low supply and pushed prices up;

  • Shelter-related NFIs saw prices climb 5-15%, with mosquito nets, umbrellas, and towels rising the most;

  • Prices spiked sharply again in Sittwe, although nearly all markets saw overall price increases;

  • The total basket price rose 14% month-on-month, the fastest pace since December of 2023;

  • Shelter NFI prices rose as floods made shipping hard and transportation costs climbed for high-demand items.
