Indian Government promotes Myanma agricultural sector: $ 10 million worth farming equipments thrown in

YANGON, 9 March— For the purpose of keeping Myanmar-India relationship fixed firmly, the Republic of India has supplied Myanmar with farming equipments worth $ 10 million for promotion of Myanma agricultural sector.

The agricultural equipments include a total of 300 tractors with 40 hp each, 150 threshers with 110 hp each, 228 cultivators with 13.5 hp each, 431 ploughs, etc.

With the Indian Embassy to Myanmar, the Ministry of Industry gave a hand in fixing of the machineries.

On behalf of the Indian Government, India’s Foreign Secretary Mr. Ranjan Mathai and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Dr. V. S. Seshadri handed them over to Union Minister for Industry U Soe Thein at No. 11 General Heavy Industrial Region in Mayangon Township here this afternoon.

At the ceremony, the Union Minister and India’s Foreign Secretary Mr. Ranjan Mathai extended greetings, and paid a close attention to the machineries to be contributed to the regions and the states where are needy in deed.
