AHA Centre Flash Update #2 - Floods in Myanmar (Monsoon)

  • Rapid assessment and relief assistance is ongoing according to Department of Disaster Management (DDM), Myanmar.
  • The official Facebook pages for the local authorities of the affected areas are:

  • DDM Tanintharyi Region
  • Kayin State DDM
  • DDM Lashio
  • DDM Ayeyarwady
  • DDM Taunggyi Shan State
  • Based on data from both DDM and Myanmar Red Cross, there are a total of 9 provinces affected but the worst affected areas are still Bago, Tanintharyi, Kayin and Mon.
  • As the monsoon persists, the risk of landslides remains relatively moderate to high in certain hilly and mountainous regions. The map was kindly provided by Pacific Disaster Center.
  • Flood Warning have been issued by Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH), Myanmar for Thabaung Township.

Other countries in Northern ASEAN Region

  • Wet weather conditions are expected to continue in the Northern ASEAN Region. This is due to the Southwest Monsoons which brings additional rainfall.
