Tropical cyclone DINEO struck Mozambique mid-February 2017 and destroyed houses and infrastructure in the region of the city Inhambane. Since SOS operated a children village in the area, ZKI was activated and used very high resolution radar and optical satellite imagery to generate emergency mapping products. The maps support the damage assessment and planning of reconstruction and recovery measures in the area. The emergency mapping products were generated in the frame of a joint project, kindly funded by Allianz. GAF and European Space Imaging kindly supported the provision of satellite imagery for the mapping tasks.
