- Since the onset of the floods, WFP has supported the Government‑led response through the delivery of food assistance, air operations, and logistics services. In partnership with INGD, WFP enabled emergency food distributions to over 110,000 flood‑displaced people in Gaza and Maputo provinces, primarily through communal kitchens in accommodation centres.
- With distributions at accommodation centres now completed, families returning home have reported that food assistance and communal kitchens were critical in helping them cope with the immediate shock. Building on this support, WFP will continue assisting people in remote communities in Mapai and Chicualacuala districts and is shifting its focus to facilitating safe returns through the distribution of 17,000 return food kits, targeting 85,000 people.
- In parallel, WFP is providing emergency malnutrition treatment and prevention, having reached nearly 2,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under five in Chókwè, Chibuto, Xai‑Xai, and Bilene districts.
