Situation Overview

From 26 December 2023 to end of April 2024, attacks by Non-state Armed Groups (NSAGs) triggered the displacement of an estimated 189,000 individual, more than double of the displacement figures reported during the same period last year. This resulted in displacement across Ancuabe, Chiure, Macomia, Mecufi, Metuge districts as well as to the return districts of Mocimboa Da Praia, Muidumbe, and Quissanga. Majority of the displacements have taken place from rural areas to district capitals, while coastal residents sought refuge in Mueda, Montepuez, while large number of people from Chiure sought refuge in Erati district in Nampula.
Shelter Cluster partners are collectively working towards assisting nearly 373K conflict-affected individuals with Emergency Shelter and household NFI items. This assistance will be provided across displacement hotspots and return locations, utilizing a combination of mobile and static approaches.
This dashboard provides an overview of Shelter and NFI assistance in Northern Mozambique reported through the cluster 5W tool as of 30th June 2024.
