EXECUTIVE SUMMARY & MAIN FINDINGS
In recent years, Cabo Delgado Province has faced relentless attacks from Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs), resulting in widespread displacement, loss of life, and a dire humanitarian crisis. The security situation remains volatile, hindering humanitarian access to affected areas. On May 10, 2024, Macomia town endured a devastating assault, leading to extensive infrastructure damage and mass displacement of its population.
Approximately 120 families sought refuge within the Muidumbe district, dispersing to makeshift sites in Miteda, Matambalale, and Lutete. In order to determine sectoral specific vulnerabilities of affected communities and guide the decision-making process on humanitarian needs to be responded to a Rapid Needs Assessment (RNA) was conducted in accordance with the Rapid Response Mechanism Mozambique criteria, triggered by the recent displacements reported throught an alert raised by NRC with the following code NRC_RRM_MUI_22052024. This report summarise the main sectorial finding that highlight the needs and response recommendations.
