EXECUTIVE SUMMARY & MAIN FINDINGS

Since 2017, Cabo Delgado has been engulfed in conflict due to Non-State Actor Groups (NSAGs) attacks, leading to significant human suffering and widespread displacement. On the 27th of October 2024, NSAGs entered and attacked the Mandela Village, in Muidumbe district and on the 28th of October 2024 they attacked the Homba Village, Mueda district.

In the aftermath of these violent attacks, 300 households sought refuge in Nnahala and Chudi, in Mueda district. To determine the sectoral-specific vulnerabilities of those affected households and guide the decision-making process on the scope of the humanitarian response, a Rapid Needs Assessment (RNA) was conducted through an alert raised by NRC with the following code RRM_NRC_NANH_31102024. The findings indicate that the affected households face dire living conditions and a lack of access to essential services, including health care, education, and food.

It is anticipated that additional households will continue to arrive mainly in Nanhala in the coming days. The majority of the displaced has expressed the intention to remain in Nanhala for an extended period, until the situation stabilises completely. This report summarises the main sectorial findings that highlight the needs and response recommendations.
