Food Security Situation in Mozambique – HRP 2024
- Estimated 1.5 million of People in Need for urgent humanitarian assistance and protection in 2024 (Conflict – 970,275 and Natural Disaster – 553,901).
- In July 2024, more than 577,000 people were estimated as internally displaced in Mozambique due to the conflict in the three northern provinces, and more than 610,000 would have returned from displacement areas, according to IOM’s DTM (round 21).
- Food insecurity is rising as conflict and repeated displacement, compounded by, El Niño, climatic shocks, have disrupted communities’ agricultural activities and livelihoods. More than 3.26 million people will be in IPC3+ including 773,282 in IPC4 for the period October 2024 to March 2025.

Cash – October 2024
- Since the beginning of 2024, 10 partners provided assistance in CVA modality for food assistance (SO1) and agriculture & livelihood (SO2), 5 for SO1 and 6 SO2.
- In total 15,587,356$ have been distributed either for SO1 and SO2 to cover the needs of the beneficiaries.
- The assistance has been done through mobile money, paper/electronic voucher, direct cash, bank transfer and electronic transfer.
- In total, 7 provinces have been covered in CVA assistance (Cabo Delgado, Niassa, Nampula, Zambezia, Tete, Sofala and Gaza).
