From Federation News #15/01
Half a million people
were again affected by floods in Mozambique this year. The
Mozambique Red Cross and the Federation have been
supporting 223,000 people living in community centres over the past
four months. Now that water levels are receding
people can go home. Before they leave, 20,000 of them
will receive essential items, contained in a resettlement kit, funded
by ECHO (European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office) and the Federation.
Beneficiaries were selected among those who had not received
certain items during the crisis. The kits contain essential
articles such as kitchen sets, blankets, mosquito
nets, clothes and most importantly, tools to rebuild destroyed homes and
plant crops.
