International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mobility Tracking Assessment in Northern Mozambique reports a total of 834,304 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and 420,200 returnees in 221 locations.
65% of IDPs are hosted by local communities whereas the rest live in 99 displacement sites. 29% of IDPs are female and 50% children. 391,785 returnees are counted in Cabo Delgado (principally in Moçimboa da Praia, Palma and Muidumbe); 27,389 in Nampula and 1,026 in Niassa. 34% of returnees are female and 42% children. Reasons for return include: increase in living conditions, safer perception of place of origin and family reunification.
Highest identified needs in Cabo Delgado are financial support and income, access to documents and legal assistance, education as well as NFIs, energy, shelters, and food.
