  • El Niño-induced drought and flooding have exacerbated food insecurity conditions for at-risk populations in central and southern Mozambique.
An estimated 1.25 million people are at risk of facing Emergency—IPC 4—levels of acute food insecurity during the ongoing lean season, according to IFRC.
  • Mozambique’s cholera outbreak has generated WASH needs and prompted food security and nutrition concerns, with the GoM’s MoH recording nearly 16,300 confirmed cases between October 2023 and early May 2024.
  • NSAG violence displaced nearly 59,000 people in northern areas of Cabo Delgado between mid-April and mid-May, with displaced individuals citing food, emergency relief supplies, and shelter as their priority needs, IOM reports.
