Moz floods leave hundreds homeless
Flooding caused by torrential rain
over the past three days has left hundreds of families homeless in the
Mozambican capital Maputo. Maputo mayor Artur Canana said houses in the
poorly maintained suburbs are under water and many roads impassable. In
the nearby city of Matola, many houses are also under water. The rains
have cut off traffic on the country's main south-north road at Chibabava
in the central province of Sofala. Authorities on Sunday began erecting
tents in safe areas for those left homeless.
