OVERVIEW
Mocimboa Da Praia is one of the districts in Cabo Delgado severely affected by the non-State armed groups’ (NSAGs) attacks. The district has registered significant number of returnees since beginning of August 2022. Families returning to Mocimboa da Praia district accommodate in host communities and temporary transit areas in Mocimboa da Praia sede, while attempting to verify the conditions of their houses and if the locations of origin are already safe to return. Most of families returning to the district managed to go back to their villages of origin after short stay in Mocimboa da Praia sede, but many of them are still living in the transit areas after several months, and the living conditions are deteriorating. On the 15th November 2022, the CCCM Cluster team, accompanied by the SDPI director, visited Mocimboa da Praia sede, with the objective to assess the living conditions in the transit areas, as well as the existing management structures and coordination of service provision.
