Maputo prepared to face cholera epidemic
Four patients with acute diarrhoeas, from the locality of Catuane, in the district of Matutuine, were admitted to hospital in Boane, 30 kilometres west of Maputo city, but these were proved not to be cholera cases.
Cholera epidemic spreads to Manica - 7 Feb 2003
Maputo(AIM) - The cholera epidemic, that had earlier hit the northern Mozambican provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado and Nampula, and the central province of Sofala, has now spread into Manica, reports Friday's issue of the Maputo daily "Noticias". 50 cases of the disease have been diagnosed in Tambara district, on the south bank of the Zambezi, since 27 January.
