From the 8th to the 20th of April 2025, Ancuabe District experienced an influx of new families forced to flee their homes due to escalating insecurity caused by Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs) in the villages of Nonia, Miegane, Ngura, Noble, and Macaia within the same district. The newly arrived families reported having returned to their areas of origin just a few months ago, only to be displaced once again, returning to relocation sites and host communities. These recurrent, forced, and abrupt displacements significantly heighten their vulnerability and negatively impact their resilience and the future prospects of their children. As of April 24, 2025, official records indicate that 3,218 households (13,346 individuals) displaced from the aforementioned villages have been registered in Ancuabe District across the posts of Meza, Metoro, and Ancuabe Sede, 1,860 households (9,110 individuals) in Meza Post, 790 households (2,880 individuals) in Ancuabe Sede, and 568 households (1,356 individuals) in Metoro. The District Planning and Infrastructure Service (SDPI) in Ancuabe has reported urgent humanitarian needs, including Non-Food Items (NFI) and food assistance, with a particular emphasis on protection services, psychosocial support, shelter, access to clean water, dignity kits, and hygiene supplies especially for vulnerable groups and women. Immediate action is required to respond to these critical needs and provide life-saving support to the affected populations.
