Heavy rain (more than 200mm in 24 hours) and strong winds up to 220KM/h caused large scale housing damage and destruction. Large areas of land remain flooded and inaccessible by road.

There are critical gaps for all shelter items in agency pipelines. Given extremely limited stocks, the Shelter Cluster has agreed to initially reduce existing country standards for response with the goal of providing improved assistance at a later date. Emergency shelter assistance is currently being counted as a minimum of 1x tarpaulin per HH or 1 tent per HH.
