An estimated 35,000 people in Sofala alone have been affected or displaced by the flooding. Country wide, 300,000 people are at serious risk and 45 people are reported to have died.
FH has worked in Mozambique since 1987 with agriculture, health, child development (child sponsorship) and spiritual ministry programs. Relief efforts at this point are targeted toward Sofala province because FH is already working in that area.
FH is further exploring whether to provide aid to flooded areas near Maputo, where FH operates child development program activities.
