Flooding and Cyclone Situation Report No. 3

This report is produced by the HCT WG and covers the period from 10 to 16 February 2012. The next report will be issued on 23 February 2012.

I. HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES

• In total, an estimated US$17 million are required to provide humanitarian assistance to 33,485 households affected by the combined effects of storms and cyclone in the provinces of Zambezia, Gaza, Maputo, Inhambane and Nampula;

• According to the Ministry of Agriculture, an estimated 123,000 ha of planted area was affected, of which 6,000 ha have been lost;

• Damage assessments and the provision of assistance to households affected continue. Currently there is a need to procure more goods to prevent a break in supply and a continuation of the response.
