On 19 May 2025, attacks and heightened fear of violence by Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs) in Nkoe village, at Bairro 5 Congresso, Macomia district, triggered the displacement of approximately 517 individuals (163 households), as of 26 June 2025. The displaced population has sought refuge at Nanga B neighbourhood (Industrial temporary center) in Macomida sede. Among the displaced population, 128 are women, 265 are children, and 124 are men. Movements of displaced populations remain dynamic within Macomia. Key informants indicate that the most urgent humanitarian needs are food, shelter, and non-food items (NFIs). IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) continues to monitor displacement trends in real time to support evidence-based humanitarian planning and response in northern Mozambique.
