MAPUTO, Mozambique (PANA) - The
African Development Bank (ABD) has granted 500,000 US dollars to Mozambique
in support of the victims of the flooding that has affected many southern
and central regions of the country since early February.
According to a statement from the Mozambican
Ministry of Planning and Finance, the money will be used for the purchase
of medicines and insecticides for the prevention of malaria.
The grant was formalised after the signing of the agreement between Mozambican Finance Minister Luisa Diogo.
"It will be signed later, in Abidjan, by the deputy-President of the ADB, and the funds "will be made available immediately", the statement added.
