Morocco: Mohammed V Foundation increases assistance to flood-stricken population

RABAT, Jan. 14 - In view of the cold weather that currently hits Morocco, the Mohammed V Solidarity Foundation increased, in accordance with the instructions of H.M. King Mohammed VI, its assistance to the population, victim of the floods that hit Morocco last November.

The new assistance is made of blankets and clothes, the Foundation said in a release.

The targeted communes are located in the cities of Settat (central Morocco) and Mohammedia (close to Casablanca).

Morocco is currently experiencing an unprecedented cold, with temperature hitting a record low of -7 in certain mountain areas.

Following the floods of last November, the Mohammed V Foundation distributed to the affected populations food, drugs, hygiene products, tents, clothes, blankets, school stationery and other first necessity goods and products.

Financial backing was also extended to the families of persons who died because of bad weather and medical teams were dispatched to help persons affected.
