Morocco - Floods, update (IFRC, Maroco Meteo, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 13 February 2026)

  • Since late January, a series of severe-weather events has swept across northern Morocco, unleashing heavy rains that have triggered devastating floods and landslides. The hardest‑hit areas include Sahel al‑Gharb, the central Fez‑Meknes region, the Rabat‑Salé‑Kénitra corridor (notably Kasr el‑Kebir), and now the Atlantic coastline (especially the city of Safi).
  • According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, as of 12 February, these events has claimed 43 fatalities, left 23 people injured, displaced roughly 300 000 residents, and affected a total of about 2 million individuals.
  • Drier conditions are forecast for northern Morocco on 13 February, though moderate rainfall is expected to return on 14 February.
