Mongolia - Severe weather (IFRC, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 24 February 2026)

  • On 21 – 23 February, low temperatures, strong winds, snowstorms and dust storms impacted several provinces in southern, eastern, and northern Mongolia, resulting in casualties and damage.

  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports five confirmed fatalities due to severe‑weather‑related conditions, 56 people injured, and nearly 40,000 people affected across about 11 provinces.

  • For the next 24 hours, very low temperatures and moderate precipitation are expected in northern Mongolia.
