INTERSOS Moldova Overview

On March 3rd, 2022, INTERSOS launched operations in Moldova with a focus on aiding the population fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. In collaboration with UNHCR, we set up a mobile clinic at the Palanca border crossing to offer primary healthcare services. At the Palanca and Tudora border crossings, INTERSOS also carried out protection activities like identifying vulnerable people, providing referrals, offering psychosocial support, and disseminating information about services that are offered.

In order to support the vast network of people impacted by the conflict, INTERSOS significantly increased its operations in northern and southern Moldova during the fourth quarter of 2022 and throughout 2023. The company increased the scope of its primary healthcare services to include the entire nation. In order to help the impacted population improve their quality of life, the protection projects were also expanded. Additionally, the activities for psychosocial support (PSS) were broadened to incorporate leisure-time activities for refugees, such as specialized events and English lessons.

Highlights:

● To raise awareness about the importance of healthcare, our Health Team held a "Therapy Day." Donations were made during this event, and willing participants underwent health screenings.

● As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we created informative brochures, posters, and online content to educate the public about this and other important health issues.

● The organization continues to hold activities, such as language classes and cultural exchange programs, aimed at helping displaced populations harmoniously integrate into local communities.
