Attachments

Since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war invasion, millions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees are now approaching their second winter season. To alleviate the hardships they face, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation (BTCF) has joined forces with 11 other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide winter assistance in Ukraine, Moldova, and Poland. The collective effort aims to support approximately 30,000 individuals.

Ukraine Aid Assistance:

In Ukraine, 6,000 eco-blankets were transported from Taiwan with the assistance of Airlink and EVA Airways. Additionally, 6,496 eco-blankets and 5,500 eco-bags from Chengdu, China, were sent to Ukraine by rail.

BTCF's partner, IsraAid, facilitated the donation transfers within Europe. Collaborating with Food for Ukraine, which purchases food and hygiene products directly from manufacturers, organizes and transports them to Ukraine, and with the help of their partners (NOVUS and Red Cross Ukraine), BTCF will distribute food parcels to families in need. These parcels, weighing around 13 kilograms each, are expected to provide nutrition for two months. They contain essential items such as pasta, flour, sugar, oats, tea bags, rice, buckwheat, oil, tomato paste, canned beans, canned corn and long-life milk, as holiday seasons come, condensed milk, cookies, chocolate will also be provided, soap, laundry soap, toothpaste, shampoo, hygiene pads*, and tampons*. Distribution will take place in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi during November and December, with the support of local BTCF volunteers and in partnership with Rotary, Convoy of Hope, Red Cross Ukraine, and Caritas Ukraine. Volunteers will personally deliver the food parcels and eco-blankets, as well as send items to food shelters, prioritizing those with the greatest need.

(*) Items are provided on a need basis.

Moldova Aid Assistance:

In 2022, BTCF, in collaboration with World Hope, donated an elevator for disabled individuals and medical equipment to a hospital. This year, BTCF will contribute eco-blankets to the hospital to help keep patients warm.

Poland Aid Assistance:

In Poland, cash cards will be provided to beneficiaries in Warsaw, while other areas will also have distribution scheduled for November.
