Thousands in need of help in typhoon-ravaged FSM

In the Federated of States of Micronesia where government officials and aid agencies are still working to assess the extent of the damage caused by Typhoon Maysak.

It's believed around 20-thousand people are in need of emergency shelter, food and water.

Chuuk state suffered the worst damage though there there are fears for the islands of Fais and Ulithi in Yap state, which are believed to have taken a direct hit from Maysak.

Victoria Bannon is the North Pacific Representative for the International Federation of the Red Cross.
