Assistance to the Federated States of Micronesia following Typhoon Maysak

Today I announce Australian Government support to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) in the wake of Typhoon Maysak. We stand with our friend and regional partner at this difficult time.

Typhoon Maysak has severely impacted FSM’s remote island communities of Chuuk and Yap, resulting in fatalities and extensive property damage.

Responding to a request from the Government of FSM, Australia will provide $100,000 to the International Organisation for Migration for humanitarian supplies - including shelter materials and tools, hygiene kits and logistical support.

The two Pacific Patrol Boats provided by Australia to FSM will also assist the recovery efforts by transporting people and emergency humanitarian supplies to the islands.
