Tropical cyclone FLOSSIE continued northwest over the North Eastern Pacific Ocean on 1 July along the coast of southwestern Mexico as a hurricane, strengthening. On 2 July at 3.00 UTC, its centre was located offshore approximately 270 km west of the coast of Jalisco state, with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h (cat. 3 hurricane).
FLOSSIE is forecast to strengthen to reach maximum sustained winds up to 204 km/h (cat.3) on 2 July around 12.00 UTC.
Over the next 72 hours, heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecast over Michoacán, Colima, and Jalisco states. A tropical storm warning is in effect for the coast areas of north-western Mexico.
