Tropical cyclone FLOSSIE continued over the North Eastern Pacific Ocean on 30 June along the coast of south-western Mexico as a tropical storm, streghtening. On 1 July at 6.00 UTC its centre was located offshore approximately 430 km west of the coast of central Guerrero state, with maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h (cat. 1 hurricane).
It is forecast to strengthen and to reach the cat. 2 hurricane intensity - with maximum sustained winds up to 176 km/h - on 2 July around 12.00 UTC, approximately 400 km west of the Jalisco state.
Over the next 72 hours, very heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecast over most of southern and central Mexico. NOAA has issued a tropical storm warning over a number of coastal area of south-western Mexico.
