Mexico - Tropical cyclone ERICK (GDACS, NOAA, CONAGUA Mexico) (ECHO Daily Flash of 18 June 2025)

  • Tropical cyclone ERICK continues to move northwest over the eastern North Pacific Ocean and is rapid strengthening. As of 18 June at 06:00 UTC, its centre was located offshore, approximately 320 km south-southeast of Puerto Ángel, Oaxaca, with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h (tropical storm strength).
  • ERICK is forecast to continue northwest, making landfall along the southern coast of Mexico, between the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero, on 19 June as hurricane. Afterward, it is expected to move inland, crossing southern Mexico.
  • On 18-19 June, heavy rainfall, strong winds, and storm surge are expected across the states of Oaxaca, Guerrero, Chiapas, Michoacán, Colima, and Jalisco.
  • A Hurricane Warning is currently in effect from Acapulco (Guerrero) to Puerto Ángel (Oaxaca).
