Mexico - Severe weather (PAHO, CEPC, CONAGUA Mexico) (ECHO Daily Flash of 30 July 2024)

  • Heavy rainfall affected central Mexico on 26 July, causing evacuations and damage.
  • According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), as of 29 July, several families have been evacuated from Charcas municipality in north-western San Luis Potosí State to three evacuation centres due to the overflow of the Charco de Álvaro Obregón dam. In addition, 27 houses have been affected, and 150 people have been affected by power outages.
  • On 30-31 July, drier conditions are expected over the affected areas.
