Hurricane ERICK made landfall between the coast of Oaxaca and Guerrero states, east of Punta Maldonado in Oaxaca state, as a Category 3 hurricane on 19 June around 11.30 UTC. As of 20 June at 06:00 UTC, its centre was located approximately 160 km north-west of Acapulco and 35 km south-west of Ciudad Altamirano, in Guerrero state, with maximum sustained winds of 46 km/h (tropical depression). ERICK is weakening over Mexico and is expected to dissipate on 20 June.
According to media, as of 20 June, one child died, and at least 123,000 people have been affected by power outages, several damaged buildings, landslides, and flooded roads have been reported due ERICK's passage.
The Copernicus Emergency Management Service was activated on 19 June to give an initial rough estimation of flood extent and damage assessment.
On 20-21 June, heavy rainfall is still forecast over southwestern Mexico.
