Mexico - Hurricane ERICK, update (GDACS, NOAA, CENAPRED) (ECHO Daily Flash of 19 June 2025)

  • Hurricane ERICK is approaching the coast of Oaxaca as a Category 4 hurricane. As of 19 June at 06:00 UTC, its center was located approximately 110 km west-southwest of Puerto Ángel, Oaxaca State, with maximum sustained winds of 230 km/h.
  • ERICK is expected to make landfall between the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero on the morning of 19 June. It is then expected to continue inland over southern Mexico during the evening of 19 June. After landfall, ERICK is forecast to rapidly weaken over the mountainous terrain of Mexico and is likely to dissipate between 19 and 20 June.
  • Between 19 and 20 June, very heavy to heavy rainfall, strong winds, and storm surges are expected across the states of Oaxaca, Guerrero, Chiapas, Michoacán, Colima, and Jalisco.
  • A hurricane warning remains in effect from Acapulco (Guerrero) to Puerto Ángel (Oaxaca).
