Mexico - Floods (CONAGUA Mexico, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 26 September 2023)

  • Over the past few days, heavy rainfall and consequent widespread floods hit Jalisco State in western Mexico resulting in casualties and damage.

  • According to media reports, at least seven people died, nine were still missing, and roads and homes were flooded.

  • National authorities and the Red Cross are conducting the emergency operations and three people have been rescued.

  • For the next 24 hours, moderate rainfall is expected over the States of Jalisco, Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa, and Nayarit while heavy rainfall is forecast across Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
