Summary

As of the evening of October 26th signal outage in the Hurricane Otis affected area has improved significantly in all administration units with the exception of Acapulco de Juarez (-97%) and the small coastal communities of Copala (-97%) and San Marcos (-92%).

Eleven administrative units saw drastic shifts in population measurement between October 24th to 26th, from -80% or less to near or above baseline, likely indicating a combination of change in signal availability and population movement, including: Ometepec, Igualapa, Atoyas de Alavarez, Coyuca de Benitez, Benito Juarez, Illiatenco, Tecpan de Galeana, Santo Maria Cortijo, Santiago Llano Grande, San Juan Bautista Lo de Soto, and Mortires de Tacubaye.

The most significant areas of population gain, among administrative units with baseline population above 4,000 Facebook users and percentage increases above 4%, included Tecpan de Galeana (+10%), Petatlan (+9%), Chilpancingo de los Bravo (+6%), and Huitzuco de los Figueroa (+6%).

Chilpancingo de los Bravo is a mid-sized city inland from Acapulco which is most likely to be receiving displaced population. Total Facebook users in Chilpancingo have increased by 3325 between October 25th and 26th.
