THIS MESSAGE IS NOT AN OFFICIAL HURRICANE WARNING OR ALERT FOR ANY COUNTRY.

1. THE US NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORTS THAT AS OF 12.00 GMT ON FRIDAY 13 SEPTEMBER 1996 HURRICANE WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA PENINSULA SOUTH OF CABO SAN LAZARO ON THE PACIFIC SIDE OF THE PENINSULA AND SOUTH OF LORETO ON THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA SIDE. A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM LORETO TO MULEGE. A HURRICANE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MAINLAND MEXICO FROM GUAYMAS SOUTHEASTWARD TO EL DORADO.

2. THE US NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDICATES THAT AS OF 1200 GMT ON FRIDAY 13 SEPTEMBER 1996 THE CENTER OF HURRICANE FAUSTO WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 22.6 NORTH, LONGITUDE 110.8 WEST OR ABOUT 40 MILES (75 KM) WEST OF CABO SAN LUCAS ON THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA. FAUSTO IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH AT NEAR 7 MPH (11 KMH). MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 105 MPH (165 KMH).
