A new tropical storm named CANDICE formed over the southern Indian Ocean, north of Mauritius, on 24 January and started moving southward, slightly strenghtening. It passed very close to the coast of north-estern Mauritius in the afternoon of 24 January, as a tropical storm. On 25 January at 6.00 UTC its centre was located offshore very far of the coast of Mauritius, with maximum sustained winds of 74 km/h (tropical storm).

CANDICE is expected to continue southward over the Ocean as a tropical storm, on 25-28 January.

Over the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecast over Reunion and Mauritius. The Mauritius Meteorological Services has issued a Class 2 Warning for cyclone over the whole Island.
