A new tropical storm named ELEANOR formed over the southern Indian Ocean, east of north-eastern Madagascar, on 19 February and started moving eastward, slightly strenghtening. On 20 February at 6.00 UTC its centre was located offshore very far of northern coast of Mauritius, with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h (tropical storm).

ELEANOR is expected to turn south over the Ocean on 20-21 February, strenghtening. After that it is forecast to pass very close to the eastern coast of Mauritius on the afternoon of 22 February, with maximum sustained winds up to 137 km/h (tropical cyclone).

Heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecast over Mauritius starting from 21 February and over Reunion from 22 February. The Mauritius Meteorological Services has issued a Class 1 Warning for cyclone over the whole Island.
