An incident occurred at the Didier waterfall in Fort-de-France, Martinique, France, on 13 May, resulting in casualties due to a sudden rise in water levels caused by heavy rain.
As at 13 May, the Inter-ministerial Crisis Management Operational Centre (COGIC) reported one death, one person missing, and seven people injured, of which one seriously injured. A rescue team of 40 people was mobilised, including to search for the missing individual.
Over the next 48 hours, more rain is forecast across the island, prompting authorities to issue a yellow alert for heavy rains and thunderstorms.
