HIGHLIGHTS

• The socio-political situation is relatively tense with the risk of social unrest in a context of reduction of democratic space, and economic and energy crisis.

• The security situation has been marked by the tightening of the blockade on the towns of Boni in the Douentza region since July 2023, as well as armed attacks followed by massive internal displacement of populations (IDPs) in the districts of Macina (11,000 IDPs) and Niafunke and Dire (8,300 IDPs).

• As of 31st May, 646,995 people in need of nutrition assistance have been reached, representing 26% of the 2.5 million people targeted in the humanitarian response plan for the nutrition sector.
