Highlights
- In April, the number of closed schools in Mali stood at 1,788, impacting over 536,000 students and 10,700 teachers. The Mopti region is the hardest hit with 828 non-functional schools.
- The country continues to face a food and nutrition crisis, with a high risk of further deterioration in northern and central areas of Mali. Since the beginning of the year, Nutrition Cluster partners have provided life-saving assistance to 462,239 people, which represents 18 per cent of their annual target of 2.5 million people.
- On April 10, the Council of Ministers adopted a decree suspending the activities of political parties and associations across the country. On April 11, media were asked to stop “broadcasting and publishing the activities” of political parties.
