MAIN ACTIVITIES

Protection Cluster

  • In July, the Protection Cluster has issued a semi-annual Protection note covering the period from January to June 2021. It states that during that period, a total of 3,580 protection incidents were recorded by the Protection Cluster’s monitoring system, representing a 58% increase compared to the previous semester.

  • In July, the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) recorded an 8,673 decrease. It is worth noting that IDP statistic figures have been steadily increasing since the resurgence beginning in 2018, from 38 172 in 2017 to 386 454 IDPs, in May 2021. Nonetheless, from May to July 2021, violent incidents continued to be reported, resulting in forced displacements, particularly in the country's northern and central regions.
