RCA distributes 45 tonnes of food aid and medical requirements in Mali

WAM BAMAKO, June 25th, 2013 (WAM) -- The UAE Red Crescent Authority delegation has distributed 45 tonnes of food aid, medical requirements and tents to Malian refugees in North Bamako.

The humanitarian effort was carried out by the UAE delegation, chaired by Deputy Secretary-General for Resource Development, Fahad Abdul Rahman bin Sultan, in cooperation with the Malian Government and Mali Red Cross Chairman of the Mali Red Cross, Abdul Rahman Al Sisi, hailed the efforts of the RCA in order to help Malian refugees, while the refugees expressed their gratitude and thanks to the UAE people for their generous humanitarian gesture.

Earliar, a UAE relief plane arrived in Bamako, provided by RCA, carrying 45 tonnes of food assistance, medical requirements and tents for the Malian displaced.

The Ministry of Health, Solidarity and the Elderly of Mali has organised a ceremony on the occasion to express gratitude and thanks to the UAE's efforts and the RCA's role in securing assistance for the displaced.

The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, officials and various media representatives in Mali.
