Mali – Violence (DG ECHO, International Aid Organisations) (ECHO Daily Flash of 6 August 2017)

  • On 3 August, interethnic clashes took place between Donzo and Peuls communities in the region of Mopti, Cercle of Koro, Central Mali, as a result of unresolved conflict over land, livestock and access to natural resources.
  • It is estimated that this outbreak of violence has led to at least 30 deaths. Inter-community clashes are increasingly frequent in Central Mali and result into population displacements and shrinking humanitarian access.
