Despite a relative lull reported by local observers in some localities of Mopti, Douentza and Bandiagara regions, the humanitarian situation in the area remains concerning. Armed groups attacks also continue to lead to significant populations displacement. In April 2025, UNHCR reported an influx of 4,832 Burkinabe asylum seekers who arrived in Bandiagara and Mopti regions after fleeing conflict-related violence in neighboring Burkina Faso. The blockades imposed by armed groups over Boni in Douentza also had a negative impact on the humanitarian situation in the area. In addition, continued intercommunal clashes in Ogosagou village in Bankass circle also pose movement challenges. In order to facilitate humanitarian interventions in hard-to-reach areas, a notification system has been established and is regularly monitored in coordination with the Malian authorities.
